It’s the time you can bond and have fun together after a busy week at work or in school. Often, the mall is where you spend these precious moments. You shop, watch movies, and dine at the family’s favorite restaurant.

These activities, though enjoyable are quite expensive. So here are some ways you can give your family, especially your kids, the same quality fun without blowing your budget.

  1. DVD night – Instead of watching movies at the cinema, you can enjoy your favorite flicks at home. Ask each family member to pick a movie they want to see. You can decide by voting, or you can turn it into a movie marathon night.
  2. Arts and crafts – In place of walking around the mall, you and your kids can do arts and crafts at home. With coloring materials and paper, you can teach your kids how to make personalized cards that can be given on birthdays, Christmas and other special occasions. It’s not only more affordable, it develops their artistic sides too!
  3. Play games – Oour family can bond by playing video games or board games together. (If you don’t know how, you can ask your kids to teach you!)  You can also add more excitement by giving away prizes for the winners.
  4. Eat in – Just as any trip to the mall is incomplete without a visit to your kid’s favorite restaurant, you can cap these activities with a serving of your home cooked meals ala restaurant style. Your kids can also help you in the preparation of your meal.

All the students were fussing over the seating arrangements and my aunt Nene, as their teacher, supervised them. When everyone had settled down, I found my aunt standing next to the Valedictorian. She asked him “So, you made it all the way to the end and all the way to the top. What was your motivation?”

“Ma’am, I want to have a good life, someday, I want to give my family everything they need in life,” he exclaimed.

Auntie smiled. She thought that this boy had a good heart… and he loved his family dearly.
